I have been meaning to start a blog site if for nothing else but my own journey. I will try and get to it as often as possible and I’m sure I’ll be more conscientious the first few months. I’d like to post some photos from my trip to Africa and some images showing my paintings. They are mostly oil paintings of wildlife but I also get interested in other mediums and genres. There has been a lot happening in my art world lately so come back and visit from time to time.

This is an example of a miniature painting, only 3.5" x 5" titled
Moving On. It just won 2nd best of show at the Miniature show in Casper, WY (yea!) .
I'm really enjoying painting these small gems. They take more time per square inch than a larger painting and take 3 to 4 days each to create as they're not just small gesture paintings but finished in multi - layers and comparable to a large painting in everything but size. Although this one is on primed panel I often use special synthetic ivory, tiny brushes and a magnifying glass. I learn a tremendous amount from painting them. I have beautiful frames made for them so they fit the size without being overwhelming.
It's so nice to just put these in a small box and send them off without the taxing and expensive shipping of the larger works. I've taken to entering miniature shows along with the regular shows.
